The Teen Library Ambassador program (TLA) is a group of up to 20 teens in 6th - 12th grade. They will work to provide feedback on teen library services and complete volunteer tasks to assist the library. New and returning members will be selected based on their application which should demonstrate a desire to promote reading, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and a commitment to attend meetings on a regular basis. Teen Library Ambassadors will not be selected on a first-come first-served basis. Rather, library staff will assess each application and make a decision based on each teen's responses.
Teen Library Ambassadors must hold a Lucius E. & Elsie C. Burch Jr. library card. They must also be able to attend monthly meetings. Ambassador meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month, from January 2025 to April 2025. Each meeting will be held in the library's Halle Room from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Members who miss two meetings in a semester are no longer eligible for the Ambassador Program.
The application for this spring's Teen Library Ambassador Program will open on open on Monday November 18th, 2024, and close at the end of the day on Monday, December 16th, 2024. This will give the library time to assess applications, notify selected teens, and communicate information to them about the first Ambassador meeting.
