Learn the basics of building 2D platform games using the GDevelop game engine. In this two-part workshop, students will explore the basics of game design fundamentals, including character movement and simple physics. After the program, participants will have one week to create and submit their own game for a chance to win prizes.
The class will be led by Aditi Arunprakash, who has completed two AP Computer Science courses, built a Tic Tac Toe game in Python, and completed a coding internship with George Mason University. Arunprakash has also taught Python summer code camps at the Collierville Library and five other Memphis-area libraries.
For ages 11–17. Registration required. Limited laptops are available to reserve—call the library at 901-457-2601. Otherwise, participants may bring their own device.
Dates: September 27 & 28, 1:30–3:00 p.m. (must be able to attend both sessions).
