Join Ayse Murat for an introduction to one of Turkey’s most beloved desserts. This engaging program begins with a short video exploring the history and cultural significance of Baklava and traditional Turkish coffee.
Participants will then learn key tips and techniques for preparing baklava before working together in a step-by-step group activity to see how this classic pastry is made. To conclude the session, attendees will enjoy a tasting of freshly prepared baklava accompanied by traditional Turkish coffee. This program offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about Turkish culture, discover the art of making baklava, and enjoy a sweet treat together.
About the Presenter
Ayse Murat is a community presenter with the Atlantic Institute who enjoys sharing Turkish culture through educational programs and workshops. She has led several community events and cultural programs highlighting traditional arts and cuisine. In addition to culinary programs, Ayse has practiced the traditional Turkish art of water marbling (Ebru) for the past five years and has conducted workshops demonstrating this unique art form. Through her programs, she aims to introduce audiences to the rich traditions, flavors, and artistic heritage of Turkish culture.

The Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library serves the Town of Collierville as an information hub offering materials and programming for all ages, three 4-person study rooms, and a 40-person meeting room. It sits in a beautiful location in Halle Park near Collierville Town Hall.
