Build and test a wind sock while learning how NASA studies wind. Hands-on STEM fun for grades K-5. May 17, 1:30-2:15 p.m. Registration Required.
Explore the science of wind and engineering in NASA Astro Camp: Wind Sock. Students will construct and use a simple wind sock to observe wind direction and measure wind speed, gaining hands-on experience with basic meteorology concepts.
A wind sock is a type of kite used to detect wind direction. NASA research has helped develop advanced wind warning technologies that can detect sudden changes in wind speed and direction, helping protect aircraft, wind turbines, and other systems.
The goal of NASA ASTRO CAMP® is to give ALL students the chance to be involved and experience Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to inspire future astronauts and engineers to learn about space with NASA activities.
