Learning AI for Research is a hands-on workshop led by Dr. Matt Meador that helps students, educators, and community members learn how to use artificial intelligence as a research and thinking tool, not a shortcut. This session shows participants how to ask better questions, evaluate information, and verify claims using AI responsibly. Through real-world examples and guided practice, attendees learn how to turn AI into a partner for research, critical thinking, and decision-making.
No prior AI experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to think more deeply in a world shaped by AI. For adults and teens ages 12 and up.
Sessions will be held Wednesdays, February 18 and 25, 2026. Attendees can attend one or both sessions. If you would like to attend both sessions, please register for both.
Please bring a phone or tablet to the session with ChatGPT or Google Gemini already installed. If you do not have a phone or tablet, please bring a laptop.
About the Presenter
Dr. Matt Meador is an AI literacy educator and systems-thinking practitioner focused on helping communities develop a practical, ethical, and accessible understanding of artificial intelligence. With over 15 years of experience across higher education, project management, and organizational consulting, he designs and delivers applied AI literacy programs for public and private audiences. His work has been featured through successful programs at the Bartlett Library and is now expanding into the greater Memphis Area. Dr. Meador also serves as an adjunct history professor at the University of Tennessee at Martin and publishes on AI, learning organizations, and digital transformation.

The Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library serves the Town of Collierville as an information hub offering materials and programming for all ages, three 4-person study rooms, and a 40-person meeting room. It sits in a beautiful location in Halle Park near Collierville Town Hall.
