Introduction to Block Coding with Scratch is for registrants in grades 3-7. Attendees will experience how block coding concepts connect to hands on tech.

Storytelling RoomPresented by CHS student Reyansh Dash. Introduction to Block Coding with Scratch is for registrants in grades 3-7. Attendees will experience how block coding concepts connect to hands on tech.
Presented by CHS student Reyansh Dash. Introduction to Block Coding with Scratch will introduce attendees to Scratch by showing how to download, set it up, and navigate the main parts of the user interface. Attendees will build a catch game, step by step. This experience will give participants a live view of how sprites, scoring, and game mechanics come together.
There will also be a small robot demo designed to show how block coding is more than just code for on-screen projects.
After attending all three sessions, attendees will understand how Scratch works, how coding concepts connect to hands on technology, and how creative and accessible block programming can be.
Session 1: Introduction to the Scratch Environment
Session 2: Block Functions and Navigation in the UI
Session 3: Creating the Game & Takeaways.
Registrants can use their personal devices, or laptops provided by the library. Please call the library at 901-457-2601 to reserve a laptop as they are limited.
Registration is required.

The Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library serves the Town of Collierville as an information hub offering materials and programming for all ages, three 4-person study rooms, and a 40-person meeting room. It sits in a beautiful location in Halle Park near Collierville Town Hall.
