While World War II was fought in places like the Kasserine Pass in North Africa, across the Beaches of Normandy in France, and on Okinawa in the Pacific; the war was won in places like Ford’s Bomber Plant in Willow Run, Michigan, Kaiser’s Shipyard in Richmond, California, and in Oakridge, Tennessee at Tennessee Eastman’s Y-12 Uranium Enrichment Facility. Women had had a prominent role in all those places. Celebrate Women’s History Month with Retired Army Colonel and Local Amateur Historian Mike Ellicott at 10:30 on Saturday, March 28 to hear the story of the 350,000 women who put on a military uniform and the over 6,000,000 women who joined the Nation’s industrial work force during WWII.

The Lucius E. and Elsie C. Burch, Jr. Library serves the Town of Collierville as an information hub offering materials and programming for all ages, three 4-person study rooms, and a 40-person meeting room. It sits in a beautiful location in Halle Park near Collierville Town Hall.
