Join us for a talk by author Phyllis R. Dixon as she discusses her novel, Something in the Water.
"Something in the Water" by local author Phyllis R. Dixon tells the story of Billie Jordan and her family who move to a quiet Texas town for a fresh start, where they discover the water isn’t the only thing contaminated. A dangerous conspiracy, a broken water supply, and a family on the edge. Billie must expose the truth before corruption drowns them all. Ms. Dixon is a recipient of the Richard Wright Award for Fiction from the Memphis Public Library, and this is her fifth novel.
For adults 18+. Registration opens Friday, February 20th, at 10 a.m.
About the author:
A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Phyllis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She spent over thirty years with the U.S. Treasury Department as a National Bank Examiner. During this time, she also owned a bookstore. She enjoyed being around books, authors and readers, and decided to follow her original dream and become a writer. She is the author of the novels Intermission, Down Home Blues and Forty Acres. She has contributed to Chicken Soup for the African American Woman’s Soul as well as newspaper and magazine articles on books, and black history. She is also a frequent speaker on writing related topics and financial literacy. In addition to Milwaukee, Phyllis has lived in Minneapolis, Houston, TX, Pine Bluff, AR and now lives in Memphis, Tennessee. She has three adult children, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. When not reading or writing, she enjoys sports, classic movies and chocolate. https://www.phyllisrdixon.com/
