Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by exploring the surprising connections between plants, candy, and early American life. Presented by the Memphis Botanic Garden, this interactive program invites participants to discover how plants have shaped some of our favorite sweet treats. You will learn about the plant origins of candy, make a batch of colonial-style mint candy, and sample sap from the sapodilla tree while learning how it was used to make chewing gum. Open to youth entering grades 6 - 12. We will meet in the Halle Room on Wednesday, July 8 at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required and will open on June 24, 2026.
